Port St Mary Lifeboat Services - 1999

This year the All Weather Lifeboat was been tasked 4 times and the crew crew assembled a further 1 times

The ILB was tasked 8 times ( 2 of which were with the ALB)

NATURE OF INCIDENT
1 30 March ILB DoT Rigid inflatable capsized at Carrick rock; rescued 4 and towed craft in [photographs available]
2 11 April ILB Racing sailing dingy stranded Poyll Richie, Carrick Bay with three persons having difficulty re floating ; towed off rocks and escorted craft to harbour. Wind SE 4-5 . Port Erin Lifeboat was diverted from exercise by Liverpool Coastguard arrived on scene just after Port St. Mary ILB.
3 2 May ILB Man fell overboard from rowing boat at Derbyhaven; others had given help by the time the ILB arrived on scene.
4 29 May ILB Search for two children reported missing at Perwick Bay; located safe and well by other services
5 15 July ALB + ILB 21:00 -23:50 Assisted in refloating MFV Adoration aground at Thousla Beacon, Calf Sound [photographs available]
25 July ALB Standby re aircraft reported possible nosewheel failure on landing at Ronaldsway- safely landed ;Crew on standby however no launch was required
6 9 August ALB 18 ft Dayboat "Sea Mist" ran out of fuel with seven people on board in fresh winds.
7 24 August ALB 20:30 Whilst on exercise was diverted to search the coastline from north of Niabyl Point to Fleshwick on the west side of the Island after reports of a small boat (a dory) missing . Searching in the dark with searchlights and night vision gear revealed nothing. Called off by Coastguards after boat was found safely tied up in Peel. Wind: E 5-6
8 30 August ALB + ILB 09.15 Both lifebvoats called to assist a 17ft speedboat with two people on board reported in difficulties very close inshore at Marine Drive approximately 1 mile from Douglas and 12 miles from Port St Mary. Wind S 4-5 [photographs available]
9 30 August ILB 17.45-19.45 Called to assist Police and Coastguards in the recovery of a body from the bottom of cliffs approximately one mile south of Port Grennaugh. Wind S 2
10 23 Dec. ILB 11:55-12-45: 16ft Open Motorboat, "Shiralee" reported to be in difficulties very close to rocks underneath the old Carrick Hotel appartments with 1 person on board. [photographs available]
